Riverdale’s new addition, plus B*witched spills on Aussie tour
CAN ARCHIE AND JUGHEAD RESIST TEMPTATION?
Your every Twitter wish is Netflix’s command, Riley Keough! Back in March, the 29-year-old told her 17,000 followers, ‘I just want to be cast in Riverdale’ – and now, it’s been confirmed that she will play mystery woman Laurie Lake on season three of the teen drama.
Described as an ‘all-american farm girl’, Laurie helps Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones after they ‘wander onto her property in seek of shelter’. Then, after what’s been described as ‘flirtatious interaction’ between Laurie and both the boys, – look out Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper – the encounter turns into ‘more danger than they could have imagined.’
Fans believe Riley’s character is connected to ‘The Farm’, a cult that the third season will centre around. Showrunner Roberto AguirreSacasa explains, ‘We’re going to meet the farm’s leader Edgar Evernever. But equally important, we’re going to meet his daughter Evelyn Evernever, who’s an Archie character that we’re sort of reinventing for this storyline,’ he says of the comic book-to-tv adaptation.
Now fans are wondering whether The Farm is the place Betty Cooper’s sister Polly mysteriously moved to before the birth of her twins in season two. And, where will Riley’s Laurie fit into all of this?
Despite Riley’s music icon pedigree – she’s Elvis Presley’s granddaughter – she’s earned her stripes, and even scored a Golden Globe nomination for The Girlfriend Experience.
