ANZACS swamp Classic TT
Josh Brookes took his first Isle of Man win with victory in the Senior Classic TT, held over four laps of the iconic 60 km circuit. Brooks rode the Team Winfield 500cc Paton twin to the top spot, with a best lap of 11.295 mph. A remarkable second was Brit Jamie Coward on a 500cc Manx Norton, who posted a lap of 110.054 mph – the fastest-ever lap of the TT circuit by a single cylinder motorcycle. Later the same day, Kiwi Bruce Anstey shattered lap and race records to win the Lightweight Classic TT on a Honda RS250, setting the first-ever sub-19 minute lap. He left the mark at 18m47.438secs (120.475 mph) to win easily from fellow veterans Michael Rutter and Ian Lougher.
