Showtime in Mackay

35 years ago a group of young motorcycle enthusiast who 4 years earlier started the British Motorcycle Owners Association of Mackay decided to organize a show and call it The All Bike Show.

It never ceases to amaze the members of the club that the bikes still come out of the woodwork. This year the Bike of the Show was one of the best restorations of a 750 Kawasaki seen; it was better than new as was the Norton Fastback, the little 450 Ducati Desmo and several other beautiful pieces of machinery. There were bikes from Gladstone to Townsville, and good support of local bike owners and clubs with the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club of Mackay and Central Coast Touring Club showing several Bikes as well as the Best Club Display winners The Whitsunday VMX Club. Lucky Keiser again impressed the mechanical minded with his compressed air powered solo. The All Bike Show was started as a social event where likeminded people can get together and tell a few lies. To that end an ex-member of the club has for years ridden from Mt Isa to spend the Saturday night socializing then riding back on the Sunday to The Isa to start work on the Monday. Next year will be the 40th year of the Club and the 36th All Bike Show and if this year is anything to go by it will be a bottler!
