On the Road Tasmania

Day 3

Penguin > Boat Harbour Beach

-

Take a roundabout journey that leads back to the coast at Boat Harbour Beach, heading inland on the B17 to hidden Leven Canyon, a 300m-deep ravine. A halfhour drive north is Gunns Plains Cave where you can discover an underworld of caves and sinkholes. Or there’s Wings Wildlife Park nearby, where you’ll find Tasmania’s largest collection of wildlife. Wind your way into Burnie via Hellyers Road Distillery, Australia’s largest distillery of single malt whisky. Pop in to the Makers Workshop where you can see local craft and artisans at work. Then make your way to Table Cape for dramatic coastal views and if you’re here in spring, don’t miss the Table Cape Tulip Farm. Take a tour of the impressive lighthouse before descending to Boat Harbour Beach for your night’s stay at the holiday park or private beach houses.
