OUR NATIONAL PARKS
Take a peek into some of the amazing national parks in NSW and QLD – Australian families are blessed to be able to enjoy these natural playgrounds right on our doorstep.
In 1872, US President Ulysses S. Grant decreed the world’s first National Park - iconic Yellowstone National Park - and Australia created the world’s second National Park just five years later.
137 years ago - on 26 April 1879 - the Royal National Park, south of Sydney in NSW, was proclaimed, and forever preserved for future generations.
It’s hard to imagine what our world might be like today if our forebears had not taken these important initiatives to protect millions upon millions of hectares of land around the world - over 500 national parks across 28 million hectares in Australia alone. In these pristine parklands, native flora and fauna flourish and, with an open invitation to visit, we are the beneficiaries - privileged to be able to explore so many diverse and unique environments and natural playgrounds that are such an important part of Australia’s heritage.
