Wrest Point Tasmania, Hobart

Out & About with Kids - - WE REVIEW -

Just 20 minutes from Hobart Airport, Wrest Point is Hobart’s iconic accommodation, dining and first-class entertainment destination with a distinctive 17-storey octagonal tower – Tasmania’s tallest building. Located on the banks of the Derwent River in Sandy Bay, Wrest Point is also home to Australia’s first casino (opened in 1973).

Wrest Point offers a choice of accommodation options - from 3.5 star Motor Inn accommodation to the 4 star Water Edge wing and luxury suites and rooms in the Wrest Point Tower.

We stayed in the hotel tower with king-size bed, spacious lounge area, flatscreen tvs and Foxtel, free in-room WiFi and complimentary parking. OAWK Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor and make the most of the magical vista of the Derwent River … it’s a little more expensive, but worth it!

Guests of Wrest Point can enjoy all facilities including day spa and health club, swimming pool and mini golf. (Children are welcome with adult supervision). Wrest Point is only 10 minutes from Hobart city centre by car, or you can take one of the water transfers from the pier to the city to explore this fascinating and historic capital.

Hire a babysitter for an evening and enjoy a meal at one of Wrest Point’s restaurants and bars, before stepping into history at Australia’s first casino.

Food & Beverage

There are five different dining experiences to choose from, although some of these are off limits to anyone under 18 years. The familyfriendly Wrest Point Buffet & Coffee Shop is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets that offer easy and delicious dining. The Loft Bistro is also a popular family eatery, with a large menu and plenty of child-friendly choices.
