A splash of colour lifts school spirits

Ovens & Murray Advertiser - - NEWS -

A CREATIVE splash of colour has been given to aged internal school walls by Beechworth Secondary College students when they picked up paint brushes over the school holidays.

Prominent Woolshed artist and college art teacher Nina Machielse Hunt behind the project said it was a reinvigoration of school areas.

“We have a lot of artistic talent here with blank canvasses everywhere to fill,” she said.

“Developing relationships with colour, images and popular culture, the idea is to engage students with an element of surprise too.”

“We’re doing something that benefits the school com- munity in an active way that will create a more pleasant environment for all.”

Year 7 art students Madison Lawrence and Asha Bright both said it brightened up the school for students.

“It’s something interesting to look at and has been a lot of fun,” Madison said.

Year 9 art student Audrey Clark said it was a great opportunity over the school holidays to continue the project.

“It’s been going for a month and it’s been fun doing my own design,” she said.

School captain Dane Asplet from Year 12 said it was a great project where all students should have a go.
