Young­sters help Savoy soc­cer win

BEECH­WORTH and Stan­ley young play­ers helped to se­cure the un­der 11 grand fi­nal cup for Myrtle­ford Savoy Soc­cer Club in the Al­bury Wodonga Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion sea­son high­light at Lav­ing­ton last week­end.

Savoy and Wan­garatta were ni­lall at the end of the match be­fore ex­tra time was called. Myrtle­ford won a penalty shoot-out 2-1.

The U11s played at Jel­bart Park, cap­ping off a com­pe­ti­tion sea­son dur­ing which they trav­elled to Myrtle­ford ev­ery Tues­day for train­ing by coach Rob Caponec­chia.

Six of the play­ers – four from Stan­ley and two from Beech­worth – were re­garded as a big com­po­nent of the Myrtle­ford­based team.
