Traditional marriage deserves respect THE article about Indigo mayor Jenny O’Connor’s belief in Indigo council’s advocacy role (‘Mayor reinforces advocacy role’, September 14) makes interesting

Cr O’Connor and the other councillors are entitled to their viewpoint on same-sex marriage, just as any other citizen is in a free and democratic society.
However, this does not give them licence to pass resolutions which say the council supports this change to the marriage law.
There is a substantial number of residents that support the traditional view of marriage.
They are entitled to their viewpoint and to have it respected.
