Indigo extends rate pay date

Ovens & Murray Advertiser - - NEWS -

INDIGO ratepayers won’t have to pay the first instalment of their annual rates until October 31 because of a glitch in the council’s rate notice delivery.

Mayor Jenny O’Connor said annual rate notices, which ratepayers should have received in the mail a couple of weeks ago, were late and had arrived only in the past week.

“This was due to an unforeseen issue at the printing stage,” she said.

“We apologise to everyone for this and because of this delay in receiving your rates notice the council has extended the time to pay the first instalment until October 31.”

She said the printing delay was beyond the council’s control – the rates notices are printed and mailed by a contractor.

“Normally we give people two to three weeks to pay their rates instalments and this extension takes that out to five weeks,” Cr O’Connor said.
