Brookfield Siding, 1954

Ovens & Murray Advertiser - - REGIONAL EXTRA -

OCTOBER 4, 1954 saw another step towards the eventual closure of the Ovens Valley railway – the withdrawal of the siding of Brookfield, just past Everton.

Brookfield took the name from the property of Hiram Crawford, a pioneer of the coaching industry in the North East, who had been a leading citizen of Beechworth and Chiltern before turning his formidable talents to farming on the Ovens River.
