Car­racher wins monthly medal

BATHURST may have had the V8 Su­per­cars on Sunday, but the Beech­worth Golf Club had seven su­per play­ers form­ing the grid for October’s Monthly Medal.

Lap­ping up vic­tory was Ford driver Si­mon Car­racher (18) who kept his foot on the ac­cel­er­a­tor to fin­ish on 64 nett, over­tak­ing Zane Howard (21) on the last lap on 65.

Those who had con­stant me­chan­i­cal is­sues in­cluded Andy Croome (17) 69, Peter Smith (19) 74, Ge­orge Ward (16) 75, Brian Cro­p­ley (36) 80, and Ja­cob Howard (34) 87.

Brian hit top gear on the 10th with his Near­est the Pin, while Ja­cob hit one Con­rod straight on the 17th.

Play­ers will race out again next Sunday for a Stable­ford event at 1pm.

Be­fore then, the Club is hav­ing a work­ing bee on Saturday at 9am to pre­pare the course for the Ladies and Men’s An­nual Tour­na­ments on October 18 and 22 re­spec­tively.

Last Thurs­day, week one of the 2017-18 Twi­light sea­son com­menced, with 18 play­ers tak­ing on the front nine.

The open­ing cash give­away was won by Paul O’Lough­lin with a score of 21 points, with 19 points send­ing Col Car­mody to the Hiber­nian Ho­tel and An­drew MacKen­zie to The Gran­ite Café.

Josh Carr was re­warded for his round of 18 points with a ball, while Kerin Row­bot­tom and Gareth Pritchard both chipped in on the 9th.

Drum­mond Golf can ex­pect a visit from Graeme Cordy af­ter he hit the Near­est the Pin on the 3rd, and Andy Croome will not go hun­gry af­ter win­ning a Beech­worth Butch­ery voucher in the raf­fle.
