Van Diemen lands Scania award
Van Diemen Transport has been bringing its P Series Scania to Tooradin for the last five Tooradin events, this year winning the Best Scania award.
Mark Van Diemen has driven the Scania since new, and he brought along his father Martin and son Bailey.
“It works five-and-a-half days a week towing a 3-axle dog trailer,” Mark says, adding that it has clocked up 1.6 million kilometres.
“When dad was driving, we had three trucks and then I cut back to two. Now we just have this one.”
Mark’s first truck was a Road Commander but he says that Scanias are well suited to the job of doing local deliveries.
However, the Van Diemens may have another truck to show off next year.
“Bailey is a diesel mechanic and we have an old cab-over Kenworth we are doing up, but that’s a while off,” Mark says.
