’Stars shine at Mt Cot­ton

PENSKE COM­MER­CIAL Ve­hi­cles hosted its first ever West­ern Star Trucks’ Show n Shine on Septem­ber 9 at the Mt Cot­ton Train­ing Cen­tre near Bris­bane. The event co­in­cided with cel­e­bra­tions cen­tring around the 50th an­niver­sary of the West­ern Star Trucks brand.

As well as trucks, the Show n Shine also fea­tured a range of fun fam­ily ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing ap­pear­ances by Shell V-Power Rac­ing driv­ers Fabian Coulthard and Scott McLaugh­lin, a Shell V-Power Rac­ing car and MC Neil Cromp­ton.

The trucks on dis­play were judged and over $50,000 worth of prizes was awarded across a range of cat­e­gories, in­clud­ing KS Easter’s cus­tomised 200th truck which took out both the Truck of the Show and the Best West­ern Star un­der 5 years awards. In ad­di­tion, K S Easter took home the tro­phy for Best West­ern Star Fleet.

Other win­ners in­cluded tro­phies for Cor­bet’s Group for Best West­ern Star un­der 10 years (5-10 years) with its 4900 model, North Qld Truck & Ma­chin­ery Move­ments’s ‘PhatCat’ 4800FXC for Best West­ern Star over 10 years, and Vince Humphreys Trans­port’s Best Tip­per award for its 4800 model. TRN Haulage took home the award for Best Her­itage White Truck with its White Road Com­man­der.
