Bloodlines www.bloodlinesmu

Troy Cassar-Daley released a “best of” album back in 2007. He’s had a lot more hits since then, hence the release of Greatest Hits, a 42-track double-CD set. This collection goes back to his first hit ‘Dream Out Loud’ in 1994, and even before that with the independently-released ‘Proud Young Man’. CassarDaley’s vocals have matured noticeably over the years, the excellent ‘Things I Carry Around’ from his 2016 album of the same name a prime example. A number of collaborations are dotted throughout this collection, including ‘Ramblin Man’ with Tommy Emmanuel, ‘Wish I Was A Train’ with Paul Kelly, ‘Get Away Car’ with Kasey Chambers, and ‘Bird On A Wire’ with Jimmy Barnes. Greatest Hits is released on October 19.

Universal/Sony www.getmu

The 46 tracks on So Country 2018 showcases the top contemporary country talent from Australia and North America, with a few wild cards thrown in. Relative US newcomer Sam Hunt performs the tongue-in-cheek ‘Body Like A Back Road’, and Brad Paisley teams with troubled pop star Demi Lovato for ‘Without A Fight’. Not to be outdone, Kenny Chesney duets with P!Nk on ‘Setting The World On Fire’. Shania Twain is at her pop-country best on ‘Life’s About To Get Good’, and Australia’s Shane Nicholson reminds us of his talents on ‘Safe’. In a surprise, Judah Kelly, winner of Channel Nine’s The Voice competition in 2017, performs ‘Count On Me’. This double CD collection could make a handy Christmas stocking filler.
