YOUR CRAFT CLUBS
Our craft club of the month in Myanmar show off their latest group makes
We’re always encouraging readers to start clubs on this page and Arida Permata was inspired to do just that – in Yangon, Myanmar – formerly Burma. “A lot of expat mums who joined their husbands living in Yangon didn’t have many activities besides household chores,” Arida tells us. “I’m new to card making, but enjoying it. My friends asked me how to make some of the cards I created, so in March I gathered my friends and started a craft club, partly inspired by Papercraft Crafty Clubs.”
The group started with four members, crafting together once a month and sharing tools, stickers and supplies that can be hard to get hold of in Yangon. There are now 14 members with about ten at each meeting.
“One member, Catherine, suggested that the meetings should be twice a month, because she felt she had to wait too long for the next one – to my surprise, everybody in the club agreed! We can’t wait until the next get-together and this club is making us closer friends. We’d love to welcome new members who have moved to Yangon and are passionate about craft or want to learn a new hobby and have fun together.”
The group meets at least once a month at members’ homes, arranged via WhatsApp. To find out more about joining email firstname.lastname@example.org.
