Our designer challenge... Only use 5 items!
We challenge Sarah Jackman-Read
We challenged Sarah Jackman-Read to make five cards using just five bought items – plus a few extra bits from her stash!
As there are several sheets of the same paper in the pack, you can layer them up with sticky foam pads to create your own découpage. Die-cut an intricate doily and trim to fit the corner of the card, adding the sentiment in the middle. Finish with gems in the corners and around the doily centre for a touch of sparkle.
For a papercraft fan
Just Add: Anita’s 10mm organza ribbon — Soft Pink, from Grafton Crafts
Use the template on page 77 to make a lantern-style gift box in teal card. Decorate the sides with four sheets of matching paper. Die-cut small intricate doilies in matching card and cut in half, then glue down the sides adding gems in the centres. Fussy cut a fan, stamp and emboss a sentiment on top, then punch a hole in the end to create a tag. Thread ribbon through all the holes and tie at the top to hold the box together.
Light the way
Just Add: Papermania Capsule baker’s twine Spots & Stripes Pastels, from Hobbycraft
Die-cut an intricate background and then attach to contrasting paper. Add a piece of white card through the centre. Fussy cut lanterns from the paper pack and layer up on the white card, adding gems and twine to create the hangers and tassels on the lanterns. Add contrasting strips of paper around the card front and layer the lanterns on top with sticky foam pads. Stamp a small sentiment and layer on contrasting papers, then attach under the central lantern.
Blooms & butterflies
Create an embossed effect on the background by die-cutting two butterflies in white card, then trimming and attaching to the white card background. Add a panel of dragonfly paper to the centre, then attach two lines of gems. Die-cut a butterfly in white card, layer on floral paper and cut out. Attach to the panel. Stamp the sentiment in two colours to complement the fussy cut flowers.
Bursting with colour
Die-cut two intricate butterflies in different colours and attach together, slightly offset to create a shadow effect. Fussy cut flowers and leaves and layer up in the corner, adding gems to the centres of the flowers. Create the tag loop from a strip of paper, covering the join with a gem. Stamp the sentiment on paper to match the loop and attach towards the top of the tag.
