NEW NETGEAR ORBI MESH WI-FI UNITS WITH IMPROVED PERFORMANCE
Mesh Wi-Fi is taking off as an excellent way to improve signal strength around large homes and small offices, without having to run Ethernet cables around or use sometimes flaky or incompatible power over Ethernet adaptors. Netgear’s Orbi was one of the first consumer mesh Wi-Fi systems and is still one of the best performers. Not content to rest on their laurels, there’s now a new flagship Orbi kit - the RBK50. It has a 4x4 802.11ac radio that provides 1.7 Gbps of backhaul bandwidth so the additional RBS50 satellites can blanket your home with Wi-Fi and still achieve excellent speeds. An increase in RAM and CPU speed also give an overall boost in performance, particularly for heavy BitTorrent users. Netgear claim each base station will cover approximately 175sqm. The new Orbi units are out now and the RBK50 kit sells for $749.
