Samsung enters Microsoft Mixed Reality
has joined Asus, HP, Acer, Lenovo and Dell in partnering with Microsoft to make their own Mixed Reality headset, but rather than sharing the same specs as the other headsets, and, contrary to the idea of all headsets being the same, the Samsung Odyssey features a higher resolution and wider FOV than any of the competing headsets. The Odyssey will boast dual AMOLED screens with a resolution of 1400x1600 (rather than the standard 1400x1400) delivering a 110 degree FOV rather than the 95 on the standard headsets. The headset will also feature an adjustable interpupillary distance for a little more customisation. Despite the slightly different specs, the Odyssey will still be fully compatible with the Microsoft Mixed Reality API as well as SteamVR. The headset is expected to go on sale November 6 for $499 USD with a pair of motion controllers included.
