Cory Sciber­ras are ready to fight. Pic­ture: David Swift. MANY home­own­ers are still not en­sur­ing their swim­ming pools are com­pletely safe, with coun­cil of­fi­cers find­ing a num­ber of non-com­pli­ant fences in the area.

There were 116 non-com­pli­ance cer­tifi­cates handed out in a 12 month pe­riod in the Pen­rith lo­cal gov­ern­ment area.

Pool in­spec­tors have re­ported find­ing pool gates propped open with wood, rocks and even chairs.

This is de­spite a statewide blitz on swim­ming pool fenc­ing safety and a num­ber of heart­break­ing deaths in pools across NSW over the sum­mer. ›› Full Re­port P2
