Mark thanks hospital for helping his mates

Penrith Press - - NEWS -

WHEN he saw the great care two mates received at Westmead Children’s Hospital, Mark Nielsen decided to give the busy hospital a helping hand.

So the 13-year-old Penrith Anglican College student came up with the idea of holding a raffle in cafes over the Easter holidays.

On Tuesday the Year 8 student proudly handed over the result of his hard work to Westmead’s Ben Sanderson: a donation of $1526.

“I was wrapted,’’ Mark said. “The hospital told me the money would go to an excellent cause so I am really happy. I made two big Easter baskets, with plush bunnies and lots of chocolates and Easter eggs and sold tickets at Mr Brightside (in Penrith ) and Cafe 2773 in Glenbrook.

“I just thought it would be a good thing to do after seeing the help the hospital for helping my two friends through a difficult time in their lives.’’
