CHARLES CARTMER STUDIED HSC DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY AT MARCELLIN COLLEGE RANDWICK

Q AThe Green Bean Pod Cutter is a device that removes all plastic and foil seals from a variety of different sized coffee pods so that the coffee grounds within the pods can be composted and the plastic or aluminium pods can be recycled. I got the idea from emptying my dad’s coffee machine and realising all the plastic and aluminium used in the pods were just going straight to landfill, so as part of my Design and Technology major project I developed this.

Q AI’m in the process of getting a patent for my design and hoping to either sell the product or partner with one of the big brand coffee pod producers.
