WELCOME TO THE JUNE/JULY ISSUE!
“We really don’t want to have to shell out for a new name plaque for the editor’s office door,” came a cry from
Performance Vauxhall HQ following the recent departure of Dan (White) from the PV hot seat. Okay, so that claim might not be entirely true, but you’ll be pleased to know that as one Dan passes the baton to another, the magazine you love is in safe hands!
I’ve been stringing together sentences for Performance Vauxhall for many years, but more importantly, I’m a fan of the mag who cares passionately about its future and the audience that it serves. You can imagine how excited I am about being able to bring you news stories and articles that showcase the very best of what our corner of the modified motor scene has to offer.
Additionally, I’m delighted to be able to launch of a number of new regular features, two of which kick off in this very issue. ‘Builds’ takes a look at impressive future feature cars that are currently in the process of being assembled, while ‘The Big Interview’ is our opportunity to chew the fat with movers and shakers on the Vauxhall scene past and present. The series starts with none other than British Touring Car Championship legend, Mr John Cleland. Find out how he got involved in competitive motorsport (and what he really thought of the Mk3 Cavalier) on page 46.
As the name of our humble bimonthly suggests, there are plenty of big power Vauxhalls for you to feast your eyes on, including Simon Murphy’s 748bhp supercharged VXR8. The car is equipped with a modified LSA V8 and Aston Martin gears. It’s nothing short of brilliant, and sets the tone for the extraordinary Corsa D VXRs and Lotus-dressed VX220 that we’ve uncovered. You’ll also find Cavalier Turbos, a C20LET-powered Corsa B on air ride and every flagship performance Astra from MK1 GTE to GTC VXR in the mag. There might the odd Lotus Carlton lurking about too!
Of course, I want to hear about the great Griffins that you’re building. Whether it’s a bonkers-spec VXR or an OEM+ retro ride, drop me a line with a brief spec and pics of the car in question. You can email me directly at email@example.com or send me a message via the Performance Vauxhall Facebook page www.facebook.com/PerformanceVauxhallMag. I’m on Twitter too. Hit me up @DanFurr. In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy the mag!
