THAT’S SHOW BUSINESS!
No prizes for guessing what we’re focusing on in this bumper issue of Performance Vauxhall! As I write this introductory piece, I’m wondering what recently built Vauxhalls, Opels, Holdens and Bedfords (shout out to the Rascal owners) will be on display when PVS kicks off at Santa Pod Raceway on Sunday 24th June. There should also be plenty of action to witness the day before, when the Vauxhallonly Run What Ya Brung session comes into force shortly before the night’s entertainment (laid on for the benefit of those of you with weekend camping tickets).
We’ve decided to use this jampacked edition of the magazine to highlight some of the cars, special display stands and features you can expect to see at the show. Turn to page 55 for everything you need to know about the event. There’s a club directory, a venue plan, a timetable of events, information about merchandise, details regarding the new-to-show Race Wars Shootout (a fun feature, which includes a handling circuit), sponsor spotlights, an outline of the PVS Tyre Challenge, a Show and Shine preview, plus lots more.
Talking of competitions, we're thrilled to present an amazing prize giveaway thanks to GCAP Performance, the UK distributor for Italian chassis tuning specialist, DNA Racing. All you need to do to win an adjustable anti-roll bar kit and free fitting for your Corsa D, Corsa E or ADAM is answer the simple question posed on page 64!
Those of you who love seeing retro rides in Performance Vauxhall will enjoy reading about this issue’s cover star. It’s the Nova Sport everyone's been talking about following the dramatic bidding frenzy the car attracted on eBay a few months ago. Equally as impressive is the unique Astra GTE Quicksilver. A one-off factory design exercise, the bravely-styled hot hatch wasn’t intended to be anything other than a display piece. Remembering the mega Mk2 from its unveiling in 1987, the car’s current owner had other ideas!
Newer performance metal can be found throughout the magazine. There’s Ethan Eaton’s 455bhp Astra 'Burg and the slammed Monaro CV8 owned by Plush technician, Mitch Davis. Have a butcher’s at his alternative take on personalising a V8 Vauxhall by reading the feature about his 400bhp beast on page 86.
We’ve also stuffed this issue full of helpful information relating to the flow of air into and around your car. We start the proceedings with a look at air filters, how they’re made and how effective different designs are at balancing high levels of filtration with airflow. We go on to talk about aerodynamics. How much of a difference are those canards really making to front end of your car?! They certainly look good. You might as well take a picture of them after reading our guide to automotive photography on page 94. Send us the results.
See you at Santa Pod!
