THIS month’s edi­tion of the So­ci­ety of Hos­pi­tal Phar­ma­cists of Aus­tralia’s Jour­nal of Phar­macy Prac­tice and Re­search (JPPR) fo­cuses on medicines depre­scrib­ing, say­ing “mit­i­ga­tion of sub-ther­a­peu­tic or po­ten­tially harm­ful polyphar­macy as in­te­gral to all phar­macy prac­tice”.

An ed­i­to­rial by Ed­i­tor-in-Chief of the SHPA flag­ship jour­nal, Dr Chris Al­der­man, ques­tions why the depre­scrib­ing move­ment is still strug­gling to find widespread trac­tion, while other ar­ti­cles fea­ture 10 rec­om­men­da­tions for sys­tem-level im­prove­ments in the qual­ity use of med­i­ca­tions for older peo­ple in Aus­tralia.
