Midge repellent
Scotland’s mountains, lochs and forests are beautiful, but between June and September in any damp and humid conditions, midges are a real problem. “In New Galloway Forest Park, midge repellent is essential, not optional, unless you want to be eaten alive while trying to take photos,” says Morag. “The best stuff is Avon Skin So Soft moisturizer, which the army use, and once any exposed skin is covered you’ll be protected. There was a breeze when we were shooting which helps deter the little blighters, but we still lathered ourselves in the stuff and managed to avoid being bitten.”
