Hyper­fo­cal dis­tance

The short­est dis­tance at which a lens can be fo­cused so that depth of field stretches to in­fin­ity for a given aper­ture and fo­cal length. When fo­cused at the hyper­fo­cal length, depth of field will stretch from ex­actly half the hyper­fo­cal dis­tance to in­fin­ity.
