QUICK FIXES

-

What causes my camera not to beep when it has focused? It’s enabled in the system menu.

Tanya Longworth, Melton Mowbray BRIAN says… The beeps are the standard indicator that focus has been achieved, although personally I always turn off this distraction. I think you have changed the AF mode to AI Servo; this doesn’t beep as it’s constantly adjusting focus until the shot is taken. Additionally, AI Focus mode will not beep if the subject is moving.

Is there a longer cable release than the Canon RS60-E3?

Graham Warboys, Plymouth BRIAN says… If your camera supports Wi-fi, you could use the Camera Connect app to remotely trigger the camera without wires. Alternatively, you can use a 10 metre stereo headphone extension cord, with 2.5mm-to3.5mm stereo adaptor plugs. Plug the remote switch into the cable, and then plug the other end into the camera.

What size of memory card should I get?

Janet Wilson, St Helens BRIAN says… Most of the latest EOS cameras capture 24Mp images, so I suggest you get a 16GB card as a minimum for photographs. 64GB is better for video.
