LIVE VIEW helps for ac­cu­rate fo­cus­ing in close-up pho­tog­ra­phy. In this case, the cam­era switches to con­trast-de­tec­tion aut­o­fo­cus. It’s not as fast as reg­u­lar phase-shift aut­o­fo­cus but is ex­tremely ac­cu­rate. For cam­eras with touch­screen LCDS, you can point to the ob­ject you want to fo­cus on, then press the shut­ter but­ton to aut­o­fo­cus. For ul­tra-pre­cise fo­cus­ing, it’s bet­ter to fo­cus man­u­ally and se­lect a mag­ni­fied pre­view to en­large the most im­por­tant part of the com­po­si­tion.

If shoot­ing land­scapes, use a tri­pod and Live View then fo­cus man­u­ally, zoom­ing in on the most im­por­tant part of the image
