Experiment with the aspect ratio setting

-

aspect ratio is the width of an image relative to its height. Canon DLSRS have a default ratio of 3:2, which enables you to use the full area of the camera’s imaging sensor, regardless of whether you’re shooting with a full-frame EOS or an APS-C one. There are four options available: 3:2, 4:3, 16:9 and 1:1. You’ll need to be using your camera’s Live View mode to see the aspect ratio, as the viewfinder in a majority of cameras will keep displaying a full image. If you’re saving images as JPEGS the pictures will be cropped before saving them to a memory card, so there’s no going back. Save your images as Raw files and the full picture recorded by the camera will be available, even if you change the aspect ratio. If you open the files in Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software, the images will automatically crop to the ratio selected.

?? ?? You don’t get a wider angle of view with the 16:9 aspect ratio: the image is merely cropped at the top and bottom
