It all clicked for me on this shoot. We were us­ing the big light­ing set­ups be­cause the big­ger the soft­box, the softer the light. And the closer the light, the softer it’s go­ing to be, be­cause the shad­ows are less. It wouldn’t have made sense be­fore Karen ex­plained it like this, but now it does – and con­trol­ling the shad­ows cre­ates shape in the im­age.
