09 MOUNTAIN SCENERY is hard to beat, especially in autumn with the colourful trees and high-altitude lakes, as these two images across Lake Sils, in Upper Engadin, Switzerland, illustrate. Always look for both wide and tight compositions, and whether you’re using a wide-angle or telephoto lens, set a narrow aperture and use a tripod to capture the scene nice and sharp from front to back! The top image above was shot with a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8l II USM lens, with an exposure of 1/6 sec, f/22, ISO100. The bottom image was shot shortly after with a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6l IS USM at 1/30 sec, f/18 and ISO100.
