Warriors battle their way to final win

The Wickham Warriors have put some demons to rest after an epic win over Dampier Outlaws in the Karratha Districts Eightball Association A-grade grand final last Wednesday.

Warriors finished the minor rounds as ladder leaders.

They have been in a similar position the last two years, finishing runners-up in the grand final on both occasions.

In a close final, the lead never exceeded two games as Warriors led Outlaws 3-1 early on.

Both teams went game for game for most of the match, bringing it down to the last game.

On a night when no team deserved to be runner-up, it was Warriors’ Matt Caffarella who finally broke the drought.

The B-grade grand final was an all-Karratha Rec Club affair as both teams, Recaholics and Wreckers are based out of the venue. Recaholics finished out of the top four on percentage and defeated Pool Sharks to go straight into the final.

Wreckers were gallant in reaching the final, defeating both Slaminars and Pool Sharks from seventh position.

In a close start to the match, Wreckers won the first round 3-2, but then were never challenged as they went on to take the match from the more fancied Recaholics 6-2.
