Fire damages vacant house
Police estimated a midnight fire in Nickol caused $250,000 in damages to a vacant house on August 15.
Firefighters were called to the corner property on 50 Brooks Way and Nickol Road.
Detective Sergeant Jim Ferrie said it looked like someone had been squatting in the house.
“A fire has broken out in the bedroom at the front of the house, gone though and into the roof and damaged the whole property,” he said. “The walls are burnt and beams warped. We’re unsure how the fire started.
“Obviously someone has been in the house… it was not an electrical fault.”
Det. Sgt Ferrie said people should get in contact with police if they knew of anyone who may have been frequenting the house by ringing Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
An estimated $250,000 of damage was caused at a house on the corner of Nickol Road and Brooks Way in Nickol.
Damage can be seen inside the house.
