Water Polo WA’s newest affiliated member group, Karratha Water Polo Association, has been named the PowerPlay Water Polo Western Australia Inc Association of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Since forming at the beginning of the 2013-14 season, the KWPA has won numerous accolades and hosted both the State and National Country Water Polo Association Championships.

A WPWAI spokesman said the KWPA had once again proven to be the most proactive and forward thinking club in WA water polo.

“The KWPA has been built on the strong leadership of the committee, who have been ably supported by a strong member-based population,” he said.

“KWPA has built quickly to three clubs and is embracing good governance, responsible operating with community programs to show the way amongst WPWAI’s affiliated membership.”

KWPA committee spokeswoman Anouska Angove said the club was extremely proud to be named WPWAI Association of the Year for the second year in a row.

She said the KWPA was about to commence its third season at the Karratha Leisureplex and new members were welcome.

“Karratha Water Polo Association is gearing up for an exciting 2015-16 season,” she said.

“We are hosting two come and try days to run through the rules and some skills on August 30 and September 6.

“We cater for all levels of fitness and ability, we hope to see you all in the pool.”

The Karratha Water Polo season officially starts on Thursday, September 10 and runs through to March.

Flippa Ball for juniors will return to the pool in Term 4.
