Work pays off as young­sters achieve their best

Kar­ratha Lit­tle Ath­let­ics has be­gun for 2015 with com­pe­ti­tion nights two weeks in a row, com­peti­tors were keen to add per­sonal bests on Au­gust 14.

While the pace on the track was hot, the field events also pro­vided high­lights.

In the shot put, dis­cus and javelin, many of the young ath­letes threw be­yond their pre­vi­ous bests, while in the triple and high jumps, par­tic­i­pants demon­strated their hard work in re­fin­ing their tech­nique dur­ing train­ing nights to hop, skip and jump and scis­sor-kick over the bar suc­cess­fully to add to their per­sonal best tal­lies. Ruhini Jayasinghe and Rear­don Cus­worth fin­ished the evening with five PBs be­side their names.

A record num­ber of com­peti­tors also took home four per­sonal bests, in­clud­ing Kai War­ren, Josephine Hard­ing, Lilly Bell, Sophia St­ed­man and Jes- sica Tun­stead. The night wrapped up with a sausage off the bar­be­cue for the young com­peti­tors. Con­sec­u­tive com­pe­ti­tion nights run from now un­til the end of the sea­son.

Each Fri­day poses an op­por­tu­nity for the ath­letes to se­cure PB rib­bons to pin on their chests.
