Work pays off as youngsters achieve their best
Karratha Little Athletics has begun for 2015 with competition nights two weeks in a row, competitors were keen to add personal bests on August 14.
While the pace on the track was hot, the field events also provided highlights.
In the shot put, discus and javelin, many of the young athletes threw beyond their previous bests, while in the triple and high jumps, participants demonstrated their hard work in refining their technique during training nights to hop, skip and jump and scissor-kick over the bar successfully to add to their personal best tallies. Ruhini Jayasinghe and Reardon Cusworth finished the evening with five PBs beside their names.
A record number of competitors also took home four personal bests, including Kai Warren, Josephine Harding, Lilly Bell, Sophia Stedman and Jes- sica Tunstead. The night wrapped up with a sausage off the barbecue for the young competitors. Consecutive competition nights run from now until the end of the season.
Each Friday poses an opportunity for the athletes to secure PB ribbons to pin on their chests.
