Kats’ win over Wolves puts them in fi­nal

The Kar­ratha Kats have lived up to their favourites tag to ad­vance to the North Pil­bara Football League re­serves grand fi­nal with an eight-point win over the Wick­ham Wolves.

In a gritty and hard-fought match, scores were level at half­time be­fore the Kats edged away in the sec­ond half to win 7.6 (48) to 6.4 (40).

Ross Bas­sett and Michael Smith led the way for the Kats, boot­ing two goals apiece, while the Wolves shared the work­load with six mul­ti­ple goalscor­ers.

The Kats will now ad­vance to the premier­ship de­cider and await the win­ner of next week’s pre­lim­i­nary fi­nal be­tween the Wick­ham Wolves and South Hed­land Swans. The Wolves will host the Swans af­ter the Hed­land side up­set the Dampier Sharks in Dampier.
