Packed for 20th Robe River Rodeo
with a prize giving ceremony, after which revellers danced away until the early hours of Sunday morning to live music from Peace Love, Hooligan and the Renegades.
Rodeo committee member Don Innall was also recognised for more than 20 years of service.
Robe River Rodeo president Marcus Bredenhann said there had been a pleasing turnout for the 20th anniversary celebrations.
“For the difficult times we are going through currently, it’s been a great turn out,” he said.
“My committee members have been amazing; there’s been a lot of hard volunteer work leading up to this event. We still have one committee member, Don Innall, who was on the original committee … to recognise his service we are naming the arena after him next year.”
Mr Bredenhann said the event exceeded his expectations but he hoped to make it even bigger and better in 2016.
“This is the first year since I’ve been here that we’ve catered for kids, with the disco, petting farm, photo booth and the kids’ activities,” he said.
“We’ve expanded the grounds out to get a bigger area for the bar … next year we hope to improve the grounds and give the arena a much-needed revamp.
“I think we gave it a good birthday this year, but it still needs a lot of work in years to come.”
Maddi Edwards placed second in the steer un-decorating, closely behind winner Alysha Finnigan.
