Stu­dents jump for Heart Foun­da­tion

■ The Pil­bara’s premier per­for­mance skip­ping team, the Bur­rup Bounc­ers, raised funds for the Heart Foun­da­tion in the Big Jump Off at Pegs Creek Pri­mary School this month.

Pegs Creek Pri­mary teacher Jil­lian Tarca said the an­nual Jump Rope for Heart event was an im­por­tant part of build­ing com­mu­nity spirit and pro­mot­ing a healthy lifestyle.

“The Heart Foun­da­tion pro­motes healthy liv­ing and at Pegs Creek Pri­mary School, we do too,” she said.

“The Big Jump Off was a huge suc­cess … with stu­dents from Years 1-6 learn­ing new skills, be­ing ac­tive and hav­ing lots of fun.

“The team trained weekly be­fore school.

“A huge thank you to all staff who re­ally got in­volved to­day, and es­pe­cially to Miss An­drew, who helped me co-or­di­nate the event for our school.”

Each year, the Heart Foun­da­tion Jump Rope for Heart at­tracts more than 300,000 stu­dents, in more than 1300 schools, with more than 500,000 spon­sors com­pris­ing fam­i­lies, friends and mem­bers of lo­cal school com­mu­ni­ties.
