■ Exmouth Relay for Life 2015 has raised $76,318 towards the Cancer Council’s mission of a cancerfree future.

Twelve teams worked tirelessly over the past nine months to fundraise the outstanding amount, which more than doubled the organising committee’s original target.

The effort culminated in a 24hour relay walk on Exmouth’s Talanjee Oval on September 4 and 5 amid a party atmosphere full of games, fun activities and live performances.

The fundraising continued in the 24-hour challenge with head shaving, auctions and raffles bringing in the dollars from the generous Exmouth community.

The relay paused briefly during the night for a candlelight ceremony celebrating those who have beaten cancer and remembering those who have died from the disease.

The Lego Heads team notched up the most laps at 817, the Circus for a Cure team raised the most money at more than $11,000 and King and Queen of the relay were Roge Kempe and Michelle Head from the Circus for a Cure team.
