Police take to the race track in donated stock vehicles
■ Mad Max eat your heart out, as five Karratha police officers pursued each other around the Speedway track in stock vehicles worthy of an apocalyptic car chase.
It was the event before the final curtain on September 19 as regular racers at the Nickol Bay Speedway donated their cars to the officers.
Senior Constable Scott Clugston was the fastest of the bunch and said the idea was for a bit of fun for the officers but to also connect with the community in attendance at the track.
“A police officer from Karratha Station (who) is a regular speedway racer at the track organised the event with other racers, who donated the cars to be used,” he said.
“A lot of effort was put in by the officer and the Speedway Club to ensure things went smoothly. Karratha Police would like to send out a huge hank you to those drivers for letting police use their cars and also to the Nickol Bay Speedway for supporting this event.”
