$32,000 up­grades for pools

to be bud­geted to­wards a cap­i­tal pro­ject that could oc­cur in 2016-17 or 201718. The change means lo­cal gov­ern­ments can use the fund­ing from mul­ti­ple years on an iden­ti­fied fu­ture cap­i­tal up­grade, cap­i­tal main­te­nance item or ma­jor equip­ment pro­ject, which will sig­nif­i­cantly re­vi­talise a re­gional aquatic fa­cil­ity.

“The role coun­try swimming pools play in strength­en­ing lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties can­not be un­der­es­ti­mated. Not only are they great places for peo­ple to get ac­tive but they are im­por­tant hubs for peo­ple to gather and feel a sense of com­mu­nity and be­long­ing.”

The funds are supplied through a four-year $13.2 mil­lion Roy­al­ties for Re­gions pro­gram.
