Mowarin lifts Blaz­ers to vic­tory

Blaz­ers chalked up another win to help lift them a bit higher off the bot­tom of the women’s lad­der in the Kar­ratha Bas­ket­ball As­so­ci­a­tion com­pe­ti­tion last Thurs­day.

Amanda Mowarin had a blis­ter­ing 13 points for Blaz­ers, who put away the Beavers, 38-13.

Danielle Wat­son scored points for Beavers.

In the men’s B-grade, the War­riors de­feated Flak­ers 36-22, with the lat­ter un­able to get a break this sea­son de­spite tough play in each game.

War­riors were up 19-9 at half­time and were led by Jason Hy­land with nine points and Gavin Mippy with seven.

Shane Sawyer chipped in 10 points for Flak­ers.


The Vipers con­tin­ued their un­beaten run against Heat, 35-16.

The pre­vi­ous round’s buzzer­beater Masri Amirell had 11 points for Vipers and opened the game’s scor­ing with a three­p­ointer.

It was a hard game in the low post for both teams with big boppers not want­ing to give an inch in the key.

Mark Lewis shot six points for Vipers.

The com­pe­ti­tion is now on break for the school hol­i­days with games set to re­sume on Oc­to­ber 15.
