Chance to Zumba for cancer research
Women of Karratha are invited to join the fight against breast cancer and rock out with friends for a good cause at the Party in Pink Pilbara Zumbathon this month.
Last year the event attracted more than 100 local women who adorned themselves in pink for the three-hour, non-stop Zumbathon fundraiser.
Pilbara Zumbathon committee spokeswoman Amanda Hohneck said all funds raised would go directly towards improving the services and amenities at Crawford Lodge and Milroy Lodge, both of which house WA country cancer sufferers.
“Since the event’s inception in 2013, we have managed to raise close to $8000 for various cancer causes, a highlight being our 2014 event raising $5000 with 120 participants in attendance,” she said.
“As all proceeds go back to the Cancer Council each year we have no budget and rely on ticket sales and sponsorship from local businesses in the community to make this event happen. We are hoping to double the numbers again and with your support, we will ensure that this year’s event will be an even greater success.”
The Pilbara Zumbathon will take place at Karratha Leisureplex on Saturday, October 17 from 5pm-8pm.
Tickets cost $25 and can be bought from the Karratha Leisureplex reception.
Since its inception in 2011, the Party in Pink initiative has allowed Zumba instructors and fans across the globe to raise more than $4 million worldwide.
More than 100 local women dressed in pink and flocked to the Karratha Leisureplex for a three-hour, non-stop Zumbathon fundraiser last year.
