Pro­ject would cre­ate many jobs: Aur­i­zon

■ The West Pil­bara In­fra­struc­ture Pro­ject will cre­ate more than 2000 con­struc­tion jobs if it goes ahead, ac­cord­ing to Aur­i­zon in­fra­struc­ture pro­ject di­rec­tor Paul Hoff­man. Mr Hoff­man said Aur­i­zon was ex­pect­ing con­struc­tion to start in 2017, with a view to be­ing op­er­a­tional by 2020 if the com­pany could pro­duce a vi­able sup­ply chain to war­rant giv­ing the pro­ject the green light.

“We be­lieve there is op­por­tu­nity for iron ore in this part of the world to con­tinue to grow,” he said.

The pro­ject is in the later stages of its first-stage fea­si­bil­ity study, which should be fin­ished by Christ­mas.
