Police officer hurt
■ A Karratha police officer was back at work a day after she was allegedly hit in the face during an attempted arrest last Wednesday.
Police were at a Nickol home at 8am trying to subdue a 24-year-old female when she allegedly became violent and lashed out at the female officer, before trying to flee. The officer received medical attention but returned to work the next day.
The 24-year-old was arrested on charges of assaulting a public officer, escaping lawful custody and stealing offences.
She made bail and will appear in Karratha Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
Karratha officer-in-charge acting Senior Sergeant Simon Harrison said a zero-tolerance approach was taken on police, ambulance staff and firefighters being assaulted.
