Police arrest teenager in connection with string of burglaries
■ A 15-year-old boy from Geraldton has been arrested after repeated thefts from an Exmouth bottle shop last week.
Exmouth police arrested the teenager for allegedly carrying out three burglaries over a five-night period.
It is claimed that during the burglaries, a significant number of bottles of spirits were stolen, as well as money from tip jars and charity tins.
Exmouth police officer-incharge Sergeant Alby Van Den Berg said the offences were not immediately detected by the business, but after a member of the public came forward with information, investigations led to the arrest and the recovery of almost all of the property and money.
Sgt Van Den Berg said offences committed by people visiting or passing through Exmouth were normally difficult to resolve.
“In this instance timely information from a member of the public has allowed for enough time for police investigations to identify the (alleged) offender, apprehend him and recover almost all of the property before he returned to his home town,” he said.
