The sec­ond round of the Kar­ratha Wa­ter Polo As­so­ci­a­tion’s com­pe­ti­tion be­longed to the fe­male Pi­rate’s team, who fin­ished Thurs­day evening un­de­feated in the pool

In the first ladies game, the Pi­rates de­feated the Krak­ens 7-3.

De­spite some im­pres­sive goals from Natalie Glover, Jes­sica New­bold and Brooke Turner early in the game, the Pi­rates were able to keep the Krak­ens ladies score­less in the last quar­ter.

The most best and fairest votes went to Pi­rates’ Anouska An­gove af­ter her re­mark­able five-goal ef­fort, fol­lowed by Erin Shay­lor and Laura Hill. In their sec­ond game, the Pi­rates de­feated the Bar­racu­das 6-4.

Julie Anne Elkins’ stand-out per­for­mance for the Cu­das earned her three best and fairest votes.

Anouska and Por­tia An­gove also re­ceived votes for the Pi­rates.

In the men’s com­pe­ti­tion, the Krak­ens de­feated the Pi­rates 8-5 af­ter a stand-out per­for­mance from David Rigby.

Best and fairest went to Rigby, Justin An­gove and By­ron New­bold.

In the sec­ond men’s game, the Pi­rates had bet­ter luck, win­ning their game over the Bar­racu­das 7-6.

Best and Fairest went to Hay­don Linn, Dean Mur­ray and Justin An­gove re­ceived his sec­ond nom­i­na­tion for the evening.
