KDCCI joins northern alliance

Pilbara News - - News - Tom Zaunmayr

■ Pilbara businesses will be represented by the Karratha and Districts Chamber of Commerce and Industry in discussions about the Federal Government’s Northern Australia White Paper.

The Northern Australia Alliance, which promotes business views to the Federal Government, previously had representatives from Broome, Darwin and Cairns, but none from the Pilbara.

KDCCI chief executive John Lally said he would liaise with all Pilbara CCIs to ensure a voice for business in the region.

“This is a non-government organisation — a group of business organisations dealing with the Government on the White Paper,” he said.

“The alliance is just there to put up ideas and projects from a business perspective.”

“The Government’s White Paper leans towards Queensland.

“There is not so much in it for WA, so we want to be at the table.”

Mr Lally said promoting emerging industries such as tourism and agriculture would be a priority.
