■ Minderoo Foundation chief executive Nicola Forrest has expressed her desire to see the return of some of Onslow’s favourite events of days gone by, and to see new ideas spring up to improve community satisfaction.

Talking up Minderoo Station’s prized bulls in Karratha recently, Mrs Forrest said she would like to see them used in existing and new events in the region.

“We definitely want to see more events being developed, including more camp drafts,” she said.

“We would love to see the Onslow races redeveloped.

“It’s certainly something we would encourage. There are businesses here that want to help build capacity for their workforce.

“They want to create events that make people want to live here, so I think it’s up to the communities to try and (drive that).”

Mrs Forrest said there was potential for Minderoo and other local businesses to sponsor new events in and around Onslow.
